Our internal motto, Safety Starts with You, highlights the importance of workplace culture, support, and wellbeing. Health and safety remain central to daily activities for Ryco Hydraulics. By focusing on clear behaviours and consistent standards, the organisation continues to strengthen a culture where safety is understood, applied, and actively supported at every level.
Based on recognised codes of practice, we have developed seven Golden Rules that guide safe practices across key operational areas.
- Chemical Management: Ensure all chemicals are approved, clearly labelled, and supported by accessible safety data, with correct storage and protective measures in place.
- Electrical Safety: Use equipment in safe condition, follow operating guidelines, and reduce risk through proper handling and isolation.
- Fire Safety: Control ignition sources, maintain fire protection systems, and keep work areas clean and organised.
- Machine Safety: Operate equipment as intended, maintain its condition, and follow safety procedures and protective measures.
- Powered Industrial Vehicles: Use only with proper authorisation, complete pre-use checks, and maintain awareness of surroundings and load safety.
- Working at Heights: Use appropriate safety equipment, ensure stable working conditions, and follow procedures to reduce fall risks.
Across a week-long event, teams across the organisation took part in activities that reinforced these principles, encouraged awareness, and supported continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work provided an opportunity to reflect on how everyday actions contribute to a safer workplace. By maintaining focus, following procedures, and supporting one another, each individual contributes to a culture where safety remains a shared priority.
